A market is held every Saturday in Lockram Lane Car Park, around a mile from Bluebells and a street market takes place several times a year in Newlands Shopping Centre. Slightly further afield, Braintree Village outlet centre offers a variety of well-known stores and restaurants.

Education

There are a number of well-regarded schools locally. For younger children these include Powers Hall Infant School, Templars Academy and Elm Hall Primary School. New Rickstones Academy and Maltings Academy cater for pupils aged 11 – 18 years and both are within walking distance of Bluebells. The University of Essex, which has a campus in Colchester and Anglia Ruskin University, which has a campus in Chelmsford, both offer a range of undergraduate, postgraduate and professional courses.

Leisure

Witham is home to football, rugby, cricket and hockey clubs, which all have junior and senior teams. Witham Sports Ground has several football pitches, while the neighbouring leisure centre has a swimming pool, gym, fitness studios and sports courts.

Travel

Regular bus services link Witham with surrounding towns and villages. Stansted Airport is 22 miles from Bluebells via the A120.
