Capstone Farm Country Park, which has a children’s play area and a fishing lake, as well as being home to a variety of wildlife, is 20 minutes’ drive from Nightingale Rise. Other venues popular with families include Chatham Ski & Snowboard Centre eight miles away and Diggerland in Strood, five miles away.


For families, several well-regarded schools can be found in the local area, including Hoo St Werburgh and Chattenden primary schools for younger children, and The Hundred of Hoo Academy for secondary-age pupils. The latter also has a sixth form, providing a range of post-16 courses, while Mid Kent College, which has campuses in Gillingham and Maidstone, offers apprenticeships, further and higher education programmes.


The village offers rural living, yet is within commuting distance of Maidstone and London. Major routes easily accessible from the development include the A228, which links the village with Strood, West Malling, Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells; the A2 for the M25, south and central London, Sittingbourne, Canterbury and Dover, and the M2 for Faversham. Strood and Rochester train stations are both around four miles from Nightingale Rise, with regular trains running to Folkestone, Dover, Ebbsfleet International, Stratford International, London Bridge, London Charing Cross and London St Pancras International, among many other destinations.
